To The Flip Side

It is now on to the under side of the playfield. Lots of stuff to remove here. You can now see the behind the scenes mess that makes everything work.
It looks very intimidating, but once you work on a couple it becomes very familiar and you can locate and trace things fairly quickly. Just don’t cut the red wire or the whole things blows up. (I kid, or do I?)
The first task at hand is removing the major assemblies and the green circuit boards that hold lots of the lights. This is probably the messiest point in the teardown process. 24 years of gunk has accumulated on all the parts. I wasn’t willing to take a picture of my hands. No way was I going to touch my camera with the black hands I had.
You can see in the picture to the right, that after removing all the major parts, there isn’t a whole lot left other than the wires.
Next up is removing the wires and lots of cleaning.
Doesn’t look too complicated, right? (click to see larger image)
